NIPPON CULTURE The Empty Canvas MOKUHANGA is the traditional form of Japanese woodcuts. With his contemporary interpretation of this ancient technique, artist YUKItsugu NISHIJIRI creates his fascinating works, using a wide variety of styles and themes. The serial work MACHI-ROCK shows expressive flows and colours, contrasting with the pieces of SOU, characterized by fine compositions of grass motifs, black on white Japanese paper. In LAKE, NISHIJIRI interprets the surface of lakes as colour compositions, oscillating like the water between concreteness and abstract chromaticity. All works have been reprinted exclusively for this exhibition and can be seen for the first time in Germany.
